On January 3, 2025, H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, the Thai Ambassador to Lao PDR, joined the delegation led by H.E. Mr. Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Litta Khattiya, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, and the H.E. Mr. Kamvaen Punyanuvong, Deputy Governor of Bolikhamxai Province, as well as officers from relevant agencies, visited the site to inspect the progress of the construction project of the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan-Bolikhamxai).

The delegation was informed that, at present, the project on the Lao side is completed more than 94.76%. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs instructed the relevant agencies to proceed their consultation and implementation with a view to complete the construction as well as other relevant preparations on schedule. The Lao side initially plans to hold a bridge connection ceremony in late March 2025 and prepare for the official opening ceremony of the bridge in late May 2025.
