On 21 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao PDR and the Thai Business Association in the Lao PDR (TBAL), co-hosted the 4th Economic Seminar to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR at Souphattra Hotel in Vientiane. The event was organized under the theme “Thai Businesses for Sustainable Growth of Thailand and the Lao PDR.” H.E. Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Lao PDR, also graciously presented at the seminar.
The seminar was divided into two sessions: (1) Promoting Investment for Sustainable Development (2) The Role of Thai Businesses in the Lao PDR. The distinguished and experienced panelists included experts and representatives from both Thai and Lao business and investment sectors, namely: (1) Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) (2) Lao Tourism Business Association (3) Thai Business Association in the Lao PDR (TBAL) (4) Bangkok Bank, Vientiane Branch (5) Khammouane Cement Co., Ltd. (KCL) (6) Xayaburi Power Co., Ltd. (XCPL) (7) Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane (Mahathuen Leasing Co., Ltd. (9) Mitr Lao Sugar Co., Ltd. and (10) PTT (Lao) Co., Ltd.
In parallel with the seminar, more than 25 Thai private companies also organized the Thai Investment Exhibition on Sustainable Development in the Lao PDR, showcasing the contributions of quality Thai investments towards human resource development, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability. The exhibition highlighted the shared vision of Thailand and the Lao PDR in achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.
The 4th Economic Seminar served as a platform for exchanging best practices and reaffirming the role of Thai investment in advancing human resource development, enhancing quality of life, safeguarding the environment, and supporting education, healthcare, and community development. The event underscored the close bonds and long-standing friendship between the two countries, as well as their commitment to growing together in a sustainable manner.
The seminar and exhibition received strong interest, drawing participation from over 250 representatives from government agencies, business sectors, and related organizations of both Thailand and the Lao PDR.
